My blog posts may be written in one of English, French or Chinese. All of the photos on this website (except for the one below) were taken by me on a Canon Rebel T3i (EOS 600D) camera and have not been edited. Most of the posts on here are about my travels to keep in touch with my family and friends back home.
I earned my BA at the University of Alberta in Chinese Language & Literature and Political Science in June 2015. Following that, I completed an MA at Leiden University in Chinese Linguistics in June 2017. I’m going to be taking a break from academic studies for a while, though I am indeed interested in pursuing a PhD if the right opportunity presents itself.
A little about me: I am of Anglo-Dutch heritage. I was born in Melbourne, Australia, but grew up in Calgary, Canada. My hobbies are writing, traveling and learning languages. Above all else, I am a strong believer in lifelong learning, and my favourite subjects include anything to do with China, aeroplanes, cars, trains, boats, languages, writing systems, genealogy, finances and music.
The name of this blog is a play on my name, plus the character for duck (鸭). This character is pronounced ‘yā,’ creating notna鸭!
